October's Riverton Community Market
The market of the Annual Riverton Rotary Garage Sales!

What a lovely weather day Sunday turned out to be - awesome for all the garage sales in Riverton and great to see so many people out and about! We had a pretty good turn out - welcome to the new stall-holders and great to see the regulars! Thanks also to the musicians - we love the live music! Iri did a couple of songs with young girls, who upped their brave and performed to the whole market with a microphone! Well done girls and thanks for your amazing support Iri!
The baking competition was Gingerbread Loaf, which I boasted, prior to the market, about having the winning recipe for. Even though I stuffed it up by not heeding the recipe (and adding double the flour amount - it just seemed toooooo runny), it still worked out pretty good and I won!! For those that know of my baking, you will appreciate the miracle here! Here it is: https://whanaukai.nz/spiced-gingerbread-loaf/
The raffle is a pretty funny story. Rike, who was a stall-holder at the last market with her Thermomix stall, managed to win this raffle... despite not even attending the market on Sunday! Some people go through the raffle book and pick their favourite number and when the tickets are torn out to go into the bowl for the draw, the occasional ticket is missed and left in the book, especially when it's among lots of tickets that haven't been written on. And that's what happened in this instance. Rike said she was going to gift the raffle basket (known to us as the basket of love - as all the things in it are made with love) to a friend going through a hard time. I love how the universe works sometimes!!
The next market falls on 29th November. The baking competition will be announced in due course - any suggestions, please let me know!! In the meantime - have an lovely month!
