Easter Community Market 2024

Updated: Apr 9

Yesterday we had another awesome Riverton Community Market.  The vibe was magical, helped by the live music performed by our delightful local buskers, the youngest of whom was 12 years old.  Again, it was another market which embraced our community, with people catching up with old friends, as well as making new ones.  Organising these markets is worth it for all the smiles and hugs I saw throughout the day!

One of the things I loved most about this market, was how the kids got involved.  Some of them made beautiful Easter treats to sell and sell them they did, getting to experience all of the steps involved in taking an idea, making a product and bringing it to market.

Many of the stalls were different to last time, including the delicious AND beautiful Slinky’s Sourdough bread, (which sold out well before the end), and Swan Homestead Flowers, which were also all snapped up by the time the market closed, not surprisingly.  I heard a whisper that subscriptions will be available for both of these in the future if you would like to receive a regular order of either flowers or bread!  (Next month we will also have a market garden stall-holder who offers veggie boxes on subscription.)

Along with all the awesome stalls that came back from last time, at the market yesterday were; a beautiful range of Kakariki skin care products, a wonderful selection of native plants, homemade cards, gluten-free pies, ferments, Dutch donuts, gorgeous flower wreaths, homemade dolls, local honey, and Bowen Therapy taster sessions!  .

Thanks so much to all the people that helped, from the people who helped clean at the end, to those who contributed time or structures.  I would love to promote the amazing people that have taken place as stall-holders at the markets and will be putting something out over the next wee while. This market is very much an evolution.  We are trying to adapt to stall holder and customer needs as we go.  We appreciate any feedback or suggestions and we will continue to do everything we can to accommodate everyone.

The next market is on Saturday 27th April – please put it in your calendars.  If you would like to have a stall at this event, please contact me (Tamsin 02041409990) and book your space.  I look forward to seeing you there!
