    August's Riverton Community Market

    ree

It hailed just before set-up and went back to winter straight afterwards but we were blessed with the most beautiful sunny weather window for this market! I love it when the sun streams in through the windows of Flecks Hall on our markets - making everything even more magical. This was a great market... I mean, they all are, but this time we got to enjoy live music (thanks Morgan and Liam) as well as feast ourselves silly on a delicious selection of sausage rolls.

We had some new stall holders - 13 year old, Charlie, selling his gorgeous planters made of upcycled gas bottles, another a couple who were selling spice mixes, Rebecca with her card readings (I had one - it was spot on) and Nina (a very talented young local artist) with her badge making. Super cool - we loved having you at our market!

The baking competition was really something - there were 11 entries, two of which got there just in the nick of time, some with home made sauces to accompany. There was even a husband and wife competing with each other with their two entries! The crowd was actually quite civilised (- haha - so the pack of wolves I was expecting didn't eventuate), I put that down to the calming music, sunshine and chill vibes of the market! The winner was Alisa of Riverton, who actually won the baking competition last year... also for sausage rolls! She told me this was a different recipe to the previous win. They were seriously good .. I'm hoping for the recipe and if she shares (this is her secret recipe after all) I will add it to this post! Congrats Alisa - and thanks also to all the other entrants.. that was a fun one!!

The winner of our raffle was Nina - one of our lovely stallholders (of Kakapo Creations - with herbal soaps and polymer clay stitch markers). She was pretty happy with her bounty - thanks everyone for supporting this market and its baking competition by buying raffle tickets!

Next month the baking competition will be ... Ginger Crunch! The market falls on the 28th September so we will see you lovely people there. Meanwhile, have a lovely month and stay warm!

Love this couple - George and Annette - so talented with their sock making and fishing sinkers.
