What an amazing day it was on Sunday, for our market and for Riverton!! The Riverton Retro Revival event brought people from far and wide to enjoy what was a beautiful, nostalgic vibe up an down the main street of Riverton - well done Stu Guyton for having the vision for this and for making it happen!! Kudos to all the stall-holders who made such a great effort to bring the past back to life through their colourful offerings -walking into the different venues was almost an assault 🤣 on the eyes - we don't quite seem to use colours like we did back in the day! It was great to see many of the businesses on our high-street open up for this event - bringing our main street to life and adding to the magic of this event!

We were super lucky with the weather on Sunday- it was more like a late summers day than the start of winter - perfect for meandering up and down the street, sifting through nostalgic treasures! Flecks Hall was at capacity with our stall-holders and we had live music as well as delicious food on offer (the lamb soup from Kylie's stall, Holistic Homestead, was just divine!!!).

Our Scones baking competition was a goodie with seven entries... I should probably have specified either sweet or savoury as we had a mixture of both, but everyone coped and there were lots of happy taste testers getting involved and voting on their favourite. It was quite a close call in the end but the winner was Katrina of Otahuti so congrats Katrina - your win was well deserved!! To all the other entrants - thanks so much for entering - they were all delicious and we appreciate your effort! Thanks also to Tracy (of A Little Bit of Everything stall) for providing a whole load of jam options to go with the scones (your jams are epic!)- yum!!

The raffle was a funny one this month. The ticket that got drawn had a name that I couldn't read... it looked like Ana'a... I did get someone to check the writing but neither of us could make it out. For some reason, I didn't think to announce the number or colour of the raffle ticket (my brain was obviously off-line!) so we ended up pulling another ticket - someone who wasn't at the market at that time. Meanwhile, one of our stall-holders - Alicia, (mum of Roses Nik-Naks), saw the ticket... it turns out it was her ticket and she'd just written her name badly - probably as she'd bought 10 tickets!! So she got to take the raffle basket of love home (and was pretty delighted with that) - congrats Alicia (and next time I'll announce the number and colour of the ticket!!) I will give the owner of the other ticket that got drawn a $25 voucher to spend at the market.

Next month, our market falls on Sunday 28th June. We will announce our baking competition on our facebook page as well as posting it on the market page of this website when we've made a decision so watch this space! Meanwhile - have a lovely month everyone!
